About the Treatment

What is a Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel uses a carefully selected acid solution applied to the skin surface to exfoliate and remove the outer damaged layers. As the old skin peels away, the fresh, healthier skin underneath is revealed — smoother, more even in tone, and noticeably more radiant.

Peels range from very superficial to deeper treatments, and the right depth depends entirely on your skin concerns, skin type, and how much downtime you can accommodate. Dr. Sergay personally evaluates every patient and selects the peel formulation and strength best suited to deliver safe, effective results for your specific situation.

The best way to find out if chemical peels are right for you is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Sergay. She can assess your skin, understand your concerns, and formulate a plan for success.

Peel Options

Types of Chemical Peels

Dr. Sergay uses a variety of peel formulations. The right one for you depends on your skin concerns, type, and how much recovery time works for your schedule.

Superficial Peel

No downtime

The "Lunchtime" Peel

Uses mild acids like alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) or beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) to gently exfoliate the outermost layer of skin. Virtually no downtime — most patients return to normal activities immediately. Ideal for a glow boost, mild discoloration, and routine skin maintenance.

Downtime: None to minimal
Best for: Dull skin, mild texture, maintenance

Intermediate Peel

Moderate downtime

Balanced Results & Recovery

Typically uses trichloroacetic acid (TCA) or a Jessner solution to penetrate into the outer and middle layers of skin. More significant improvement in tone, texture, acne scars, and pigmentation. Mild redness and peeling for a few days, with minimal downtime overall.

Downtime: 2–5 days
Best for: Acne scars, melasma, discoloration

1

Step 01

Your Consultation

Dr. Sergay personally evaluates your skin — assessing your skin type, concerns, tone, and how much downtime fits your schedule. Together you will select the right peel depth and formulation. She will also establish a pre-peel skincare routine to prime your skin and maximize results. This step is essential; no two patients receive the same peel.

2

Step 02

Pre-Peel Preparation

In the weeks before your peel, Dr. Sergay may recommend specific topical products to prepare the skin — such as retinoids, hydroquinone, or broad-spectrum SPF — depending on your skin type and the peel selected. Avoid waxing, threading, or using any harsh exfoliants for at least one week before your appointment.

3

Step 03

The Treatment

The chemical solution is applied to the cleansed skin and left on for a precise amount of time before being neutralized or removed. The experience varies by peel depth — superficial peels may cause only a brief tingling, while deeper peels may involve more noticeable sensations. Most treatments take between 15 and 45 minutes in the office.

4

Step 04

Recovery & Downtime

Downtime depends on the peel type you and Dr. Sergay select together. Superficial "lunchtime" peels allow you to return to daily activities immediately. Intermediate peels involve 2 to 5 days of mild peeling and redness. Deeper peels require up to 7 days of recovery. Recovery time and expected results are reviewed with every patient before the procedure.

5

Step 05

Results & Aftercare

As the treated skin flakes away, you will reveal smoother, brighter, more even-toned skin underneath. Results continue to develop over the following weeks as collagen remodels. Dr. Sergay will establish a post-peel skincare routine to protect and maintain your results — including daily SPF, which is critical. Follow-up peels can be scheduled to build on your improvement over time.
